Customer information

Privacy notice

Effective August 27, 2026. This notice explains how Steel Direct USA handles information submitted through steeldirectusa.com and its project workflows.

Information we collect

We collect the information you choose to provide about yourself and your project, including contact information, jobsite details, building specifications, uploaded plans or images, communication preferences, and correspondence. We also receive ordinary technical records needed to secure and operate the website, such as timestamps, browser information, IP-derived security identifiers, referral pages, and campaign parameters.

How we use information

We use information to respond to project requests, prepare and revise material proposals, coordinate product availability and delivery, prevent abuse, maintain business records, support warranty or claim activity, improve the customer journey, and comply with legal obligations. Project-contact consent does not enroll you in unrelated promotional messages.

When information is shared

We may share only the information reasonably needed with material suppliers, freight and delivery providers, payment processors, tax and accounting providers, technology and security vendors, professional advisers, and authorities when legally required. Steel Direct USA does not currently sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or activate third-party advertising tags on this site.

Files and security

Uploaded files are kept private and are quarantined before staff access. We use access controls, request limits, encryption in transit, audit records, and other safeguards appropriate to the service. No internet system can guarantee absolute security, so do not submit sensitive identity, bank, card, health, or account credentials through a project form.

Retention and choices

We retain project and transaction records for as long as needed to quote, fulfill, document, and support the project and to meet accounting, tax, warranty, dispute, and legal requirements. You may ask to access, correct, or delete eligible information, or withdraw a communication preference. Some records must be retained when required for an active transaction or legal obligation.

Advertising and measurement

Campaign and referral parameters may be attached to a submitted lead so Steel Direct USA can understand which outreach generated the request and prevent duplicate leads. Optional analytics and advertising storage default to denied and can be changed through Privacy Preferences. Global Privacy Control keeps advertising storage denied. If advertising services are activated later, this notice and the preference control must be updated before those tags run.

Automated lead support

Deterministic rules help prioritize incoming requests. If an approved language-model service is configured, Steel Direct USA sends only a reduced project profile for lead triage: request type, general product intent, coarse geography, dimensions, timing, and structured logistics selections. Names, email, phone, exact ZIP, free-form notes, and upload filenames are excluded from that model request.

State privacy rights

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of eligible personal information; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of qualifying sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If a request is denied, you may ask for the decision to be reviewed. We will verify requests in a way proportionate to the information involved.

Privacy request

Use the company contact page and identify the request as a privacy request. Do not include passwords, payment-card data, or government identifiers. Verified legal and privacy contact details appear there when the owner completes the launch profile.
